Training Practice
Gloucester Road Medical Centre (GRMC) is a training practice. This means we have been approved by the Deanery to teach GP Registrars (doctors in their final year of general practice training before becoming independent GPs). They spend up to a year working in the practice. Dr O'Connor, Dr Smith and Dr Honeywill are our current trainers.
We also have F2 (Foundation Year 2) doctors in the practice from time to time. These are fully registered doctors who are doing their junior doctor hospital training and spending a period in general practice (usually 4 months) as part of this training.
If you are offered an appointment with one of our training doctors, you can be assured that they are supported by one of our regular doctors and are fully qualified to see patients. They are often popular as they are allocated longer appointment times to see patients!
As a practice we believe that teaching and training are important, to bring on the next generation of doctors. It also helps to keep us (and our patients!) on our toes, with new ideas from training and from hospital medicine.
