Our Online Total Triage Appointment System

We are introducing a total triage system called Anima, this is a new way of working to help improve how you access care at the practice.

This means that the 8:30am rush for appointments will end. All medical requests need to be submitted via Anima, our online consultation platform, (with the exception of Treatment Room appointments). Whenever you contact us, an online request will need to be completed, to be assessed by our triage team so that we can determine the most appropriate care for you.

Our aim is to understand your needs as quickly as possible and make sure you receive the right care, from the right person, at the right time.

How to contact us

All medical requests must be submitted through Anima.

You can use Anima to tell us about your symptoms, request advice, or let us know what help you need. Your request will then be reviewed by our Triage Team.

Urgent requests will be processed on the same day. Non-urgent requests will be processed within 48 hours.

Once you have submitted your online request, there is no need to contact the practice again. We will contact you.

Don't have a smartphone or access to the internet?

That's not a problem. We are happy to assist patients who are unable to use the online system. You can contact us by telephone or in person, and our reception team can complete an online form on your behalf. Your request will then go through the same triage process.

Treatment Room appointments

Treatment Room appointments are the exception to the Anima process. These appointments can be booked directly with our Navigator team and do not require an online consultation submission.

If you are unsure how to access care, please speak to a member of our patient services team who will be happy to help.

Why are we introducing Total Triage?

General practice is changing, and practices across the NHS are being asked to adopt new ways of working to help manage increasing demand and ensure patients receive the most appropriate care.

The introduction of Total Triage reflects NHS guidance and the contractual requirements placed on general practices, as well as the increasing pressures facing primary care. It is designed to help practices manage requests for care safely and consistently, while making the best use of the clinical team and wider NHS services.

We have also listened to feedback from our patients, who have told us that they want a fairer, clearer and more consistent way to access care, without the need to repeatedly contact the practice or wait in the 8:30am rush for an appointment.

Total Triage allows every request for care to be assessed by an appropriate member of the practice team before an appointment is arranged. This helps us understand what you need and ensures that you are directed to the right person or service, rather than automatically booking an appointment with a GP.

It also helps us make better use of the wider practice team and other local services, where appropriate. This means that our GPs and other clinicians can focus their time on patients who need their particular expertise, while patients can be offered other appropriate forms of care or advice when this is more suitable.

Our aim is to make accessing care fairer, more consistent and more efficient, while ensuring that patients receive the care they need.
