Healthcare Team
Community Midwives
Tel: 0117 414 6743
If you are considering becoming pregnant, feel free to contact the midwives for up-to-date health advice.
The midwifery team care for all mothers during pregnancy and after birth, and provide a home birth service. They run antenatal classes which cover all aspects of labour and life with a new baby. There is also a weekly breastfeeding support group.
Booking appointments can be made directly through the midwives.
Community Nurses
Tel: 0300 125 5556
The community nursing team's aim is to provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care to predominantly housebound patients. They assess the health and health related needs of patients and their supportive networks (e.g. their carer), and work together with other members of the primary health care team to provide effective care. They are also responsible for carrying out any treatment prescribed by your doctor which requires special nursing skills.
Health Visitors
Tel: 0117 950 7000
We have health visitors attached to the practice, who offer health information and support to the whole family. They visit new parents once the midwife has completed her support, and offer advice on maintaining good health, on childcare and behaviour, and on minor illnesses. The health visitors also run a drop-in baby clinic every Thursday afternoon, and a post-natal group on a Friday morning both at Brynland Avenue Church Hall. Other appointments can be made in your own home or at the surgery. Health visitors hand over your child’s health record to the school nurse at school entry.
